Fayetteville Public Schools

I am currently in my fourth season as a volunteer assistant coach for basketball programs in the Fayetteville Public Schools District (Fayetteville, AR; Northwest Arkansas Athletic Conference, or NWAAC). I spent my first three years at Ramay Junior High School and moved up to Fayetteville High School in 2024 alongside some of the Ramay kids! My responsibilities include game tracking, film study, helping out with team practice (incl. designing practice methods), and individual player training.

Celebrating after the boys clinched the 2023-2024 NWAAC playoff title! For several of the kids, the win represented redemption after last year's overtime heartbreak in the title game. They are also completely undisputed as champs, having won both the regular-season title and the playoff title (and during the playoff run, defeating the only team that beat them during the regular season).

2019-2020 season

During the 2019-2020 NBA season, I advised the Orlando Magic analytics department and coaching staff as a subject matter expert on learning science and training methodologies. The aim of this project was to use principles of practice variability and practice scheduling to improve the transferability and generalizability of practice to variable game situations.

Sep. 2018 - Nov. 2019

For three seasons, I coached youth basketball at the U8 and U10 age-group levels in Junior Magic (Goldenrod), compiling a 16-9 record (0.640) during my time there. Through coaching, I hope to teach kids about teamwork, respect for others, work ethic, handling victory/defeat, appreciating opportunities and confidently pursuing them, as well as basketball fundamentals. At the end of every season, my hope is that my players will not only be improved basketball players, but also improved students, sons and daughters, and citizens of the community!
